Amazon has spent $140 million to build a logistics center to create 1600 jobs.

According to foreign media reports, Amazon, the global e-commerce giant, has revealed that it plans to invest $140 million in Romulus, Michigan, to build a logistics delivery center that is expected to create 1,600 jobs.

It is reported that Amason had previously considered building logistics delivery centers in other central and western states and Canada. The Michigan Strategic Fund in Michigan said Tuesday that it had approved a $5 million grant for the Amazon Logistics Center project, which it hoped would speed up the construction of the Amazon Logistics Delivery Center. It is the second grant that Michigan has provided Amazon in the past 7 months.

But it seems Amazon would prefer Michigan to help improve roads and other infrastructure.

The Amazon Logistics Delivery Center will be located in an 84-acre open space north of Detroit Metropolitan Int'l Airport, the news said. When completed, the delivery center will be mainly responsible for processing small, micro-product orders from Amazon users in the Midwest.

Ryan Wilson, Amazon's economic development manager, said the company hoped the delivery center would be operational by next year's shopping season, but he did not give a more specific timetable.

It should be noted that Amazon said earlier this year that it plans to install solar panels at its 15 distribution centers this year, which will provide 41 megawatts of electricity, for environmental protection and cost sake. By 2020, Amazon plans to expand the solar energy project to 50 logistics centers around the world, but it is not clear whether the new Romulus City Logistics Delivery Center will be the first to launch the project.

"This is good for the environment, our business and our consumers. By enriching our energy mix, we can make the company's operating costs lower, and this will benefit our consumers directly in the future. Amazon Dave Clark, senior vice president of global operations and customer service, said Dave.
